Well, it's official. This is the most Texas thing I've done yet: a senior photoshoot at Whataburger. I have to admit that I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. It's really satisfying getting beautiful photos out in greenery—which we still did, at Braden's mom's request—but credit is due to his mom because she also saw that what really suits a young man like him is the opportunity to take pictures at one of his favorite Texas icons. What better way to sum up an adolescence in Texas? What better way to celebrate one of Texas' best-loved restaurants?
After taking photos out among Houston's famous live oaks, we popped over to Whataburger on Shepherd. As we were walking in, I suggested that when he ordered food, he could ask for the #19 table flag, for his graduation year of 2019. These flags are a big part of Whataburger iconography, and articles have even been written about how police used the numbered table flags in a crime investigation (Whataburger later asked them not to). In a twist of kismet, the #19 table flag happened to be on the very top of the pile. It was meant to be! A patty melt, some fries, and a Dr. Pepper later, and we had completed what we went there to accomplish. More fun photoshoot ideas like these, please!
